Goose & Pebble began when Melissa designed her own wedding invitations, wanting something handmade and meaningful for her guests. It grew into a small studio making gifts full of delight.
Sixteen tries to get the first one right
Together with her husband, Melissa dreamed up the World’s First Smart Fortune Cookie™, a whimsical creation that blends playful nostalgia with modern magic. Each cookie is handmade from clay in their home studio in the Southern Highlands of NSW, lightly scented, and reveals a new digital fortune when tapped with a smartphone.
The idea arrived on a quiet day off in the haze of early parenthood - one of those rare, slow moments where creativity had room to appear. After 16 failed attempts, the first working prototype was born, and with it a new kind of gift.
Since then, the Smart Fortune Cookie™ has found a growing audience of curious minds, sentimental hearts and thoughtful gift-givers. It is often shared as a keepsake, a techy treat or a small moment of encouragement.
Then came its quieter sibling, the Smart Calming Pebble™: made by hand the same way, with a calming mantra or positive affirmation at every tap.
Today Goose & Pebble is still a proudly small, independent studio, making thoughtfully designed gifts for people who value craftsmanship, creativity and a touch of everyday magic.
How one is made
Conditioned
The clay is warmed and worked by hand until soft, smooth and ready to shape.
Shaped
Each piece is shaped by hand, one at a time, so no two come out quite the same.
Styled
Then come the finishing touches: colours, hand-placed details and a light scent, different for every design.
Baked and sealed
Baked in small batches to set the shape, then coated with a thin layer of glaze so it's ready for everyday life.
